KvaPay — Disaster Recovery for a Crypto Payment Platform

KvaPay provides crypto payment services across multiple channels. The availability of its technology platform is therefore essential for maintaining business continuity, protecting revenue, and preserving customer trust.

Challenge

KvaPay needed to strengthen its disaster recovery capabilities and establish a reliable process for restoring critical services following a major infrastructure incident.

Evolving regulations such as MiCA also increased the importance of demonstrating operational resilience and service continuity through a solution that was documented, tested, and supported by clear evidence.

Approach

Grow2FIT designed and implemented a secure and cost-efficient disaster recovery solution covering KvaPay's critical platform and supporting services.

The solution combines a standby cloud environment, encrypted backup replication, and a fully automated recovery process. Infrastructure as code plays a central role: Terraform provisions the required infrastructure, Ansible configures systems and services, and ArgoCD restores Kubernetes workloads using a GitOps approach.

This allows application services to be rebuilt consistently from version-controlled definitions instead of relying on undocumented manual procedures or the knowledge of individual engineers.

The standby environment is designed to keep operating costs low when not in use while remaining ready for scheduled testing or activation during an incident. Security, data protection, connectivity, and service failover were incorporated into the overall design.

Grow2FIT validated the solution through a controlled disaster recovery test attended by KvaPay's security representatives. The recovery was completed well within the required timeframe, with individual steps, results, and timings documented for internal governance and regulatory purposes.

Following the test, Grow2FIT prepared an operational runbook and transferred the necessary knowledge to KvaPay's team, enabling them to execute the recovery scenario independently.
